Hi. I received an email in the past about turning in rented books to the library, and it said to drop it off in the drop-off bins on campus. I had a parent return them.
  1. 22:09:48 John (24/7 Librarian): Hello Satya ! I'm reading what you wrote to see how I can help you...
  2. 22:10:08 John (24/7 Librarian): and are you a student at  Las Positas College ?
  3. 22:10:15 Satya Kethineni: Yes
  4. 22:10:33 John (24/7 Librarian): OK and how can I help with that Satya?
  5. 22:11:21 Satya Kethineni: I saw a picture on the bin that said that I will have to pay fines for returning them in the bins? I was confused since I had already returned them.
  6. 22:12:42 John (24/7 Librarian): Oh let me check about that then
  7. 22:14:13 Satya Kethineni: Ok
  8. 22:14:48 John (24/7 Librarian): OK so I found this info and will show you where it comes from ...
  9. 22:14:55 John (24/7 Librarian): All library materials currently checked out by students do not need to be returned until the college reopens.
If you would like to return items, you may drop them in one of the two bookdrops on campus:
  10. 22:14:59 John (24/7 Librarian): from this page http://laspositascollegelibrary.blogspot.com/2020/03/item-returns-and-overdue-notices.html
  11. 22:15:22 John (24/7 Librarian): From seeing that can you tell if you used the return place that they indicate is preferred?
  12. 22:16:33 Satya Kethineni: Yes, specifically I returned the books in a blue drop-off bin. Apparently there was a sign on the bin saying not to drop the books off so that was my confusion.
  13. 22:19:13 Satya Kethineni: I think I confused the bookstore with the library. The sign said do not return bookstore items but didn't address the library.
  14. 22:19:40 John (24/7 Librarian): ok
  15. 22:19:52 John (24/7 Librarian): and where was the bin located that you did use?

  16. 22:20:16 Satya Kethineni: It was at the busstop
  17. 22:20:53 John (24/7 Librarian): ok
  18. 22:21:45 John (24/7 Librarian): I suggest this , let's have the library take a look at this and see what they can determine. I am not a local worker, but they will be able to see what happened and offer you advice
  19. 22:22:04 John (24/7 Librarian): Can they reply by email about it?  kethinenisatya@gmail.com
  20. 22:22:21 Satya Kethineni: Yes, that email works.
  21. 22:22:51 Satya Kethineni: Thank you for your time John

Answer

Library materials can be returned in one of two book drops on campus:

http://laspositascollegelibrary.blogspot.com/2020/03/item-returns-and-overdue-notices.html

1) corner of library building (building 2000; corner closest to quad)

2) blue bin at bus stop

Bookstore items should be returned to the bookstore only.  Do not return bookstore items to the library or in the library book drops.

Please contact the bookstore for return instructions:  https://www.bkstr.com/laspositasstore/help-faq/return-policy
